God’s Goodness By Grace Sekhon

I went to the Philippines for a month in May. Before I left, God has already put in my heart burden for some people and for the church in my hometown. There were pictures of people in my mind. The first thing that God put in my heart was to bring the Healing Trauma seminar (by Elijah House) to my hometown. I attended the seminar in K.L. in April 2010 and I was greatly blessed and ministered to. I had a strong desire in my heart to bring it to my hometown.

Before I left K.L. I had the opportunity to meet Virmi, the executive director of Elijah House Philippines, who was in K.L. with the speaker of the Healing Trauma seminar. I asked her if she would be free to come to my hometown to conduct the seminar. I did not expect her to say yes, but God paved the way for her to go to my hometown. The seminar was attended by mostly young people who were so broken and wounded (they were wailing and crying). Even the pastor and his wife were ministered to. They are burnt out and dry. There were testimonies afterwards, of how God touched and healed them during the seminar.

When I went to my hometown in 2006, God had used me to minister to hurting women. This time God used me in a different way – He used my time and money. I prayed for the sick and blessed them materially. It’s funny how God uses Christians to minister to the sick. When we call a doctor to treat the sick, we pay him/her for his/her services. In my case, I prayed and I gave money afterwards (they are so poor, they don’t have money to buy food and medicine). I stepped out of my comfort zone and went to uncomfortable places to pray for the sick. Each time I would take money out, I would pray, “God, this is my husband’s money that I’m using to bless the needy. Please bless my husband; bless his job; bless his health.” I said this prayer every single time that I gave. There were some people who took advantage of me, but I prayed, “God, I did not lose, but they’ve lost; please replace what was stolen from me.” I repented for some wrong decisions that I made.

Our God is an awesome God! I came back to K.L. on Saturday, 29th May. When I put down my bags and settled down, my husband told me that he has good news – he has been promoted in his job on 1st May 2010. I was stunned! I cannot contain my gratitude to God for His goodness and faithfulness.

“HOW CAN I REPAY THE LORD FOR ALL HIS GOODNESS TO ME?
I WILL LIFT UP THE CUP OF HIS SALVATION AND CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD.
I WILL FULFILL MY VOWS TO THE LORD IN THE PRESENCE OF ALL HIS PEOPLE.” (Psalm 116:12-14)

I thank God for the many favors, blessings, His love, mercy and grace. And I give HIM all the glory and honour in Jesus’ name!

Testimony of God's Goodness by Jill de Castro - Oct 2009

     * Jill resides in New Zealand. She attends LAMPs whenever she is back in KL

I spent most of my time in New Zealand but right now I’m back in Malaysia on a holiday. I usually come back to escape the winter. I have a lot of time on my hands, so I truly wanted to improve my spiritual life by spending more time in prayer, bible studies and attending cell groups and church seminars. Because I work in New Zealand, I don’t really have much time for God except attend Sunday Services and a cell group once a week. I had an emptiness inside me and longed to get close to God. It is well known that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. This is exactly what happened in the last couple of months here in Malaysia. I tried to know my Heavenly Father more intimately and serve Him wholeheartedly and He blessed me immensely. The month of JULY had been amazingly beautiful. I cannot write out everything so I will mention the extremely wonderful blessings I received. In a nutshell :

  • God protected me from being attacked by two ferocious Rotweilers one day when I was having a morning walk. The dogs charged at me, sniffed all over me and then went back into the house. I was stunned for a moment, but God’s peace flooded me as I walked on calmly. God does protect His children. Praise God!
  • I went for a blood test (did not have to pay a cent because I was a Government servant) and all the tests came back negative. I am 64 years old but right now I feel sweet 46. God wants us to have good health. He said if we walk right with Him, He will take away all our sicknesses from us. Praise the Lord!
  • I was looking for a water- heater for my daughter and I bought a brand new one for only half the price. I was so thrilled to have saved some money. Truly God provideds for all our needs.
  • I was looking for a part-time job as I had so much time on my hands. God answered my prayer. He gave me a perfect job as a part-time teacher. The job is easy and the pay is very good. Again, I just want to say, “Thank you Lord. You know exactly how to maximise the use of the talents You have given me!”
  • My daughter came back from New Zealand for a short holiday. It was wonderful having her around. We talked, laughed, shopped and ate so much. We should always thank God for the closeness of families and loved ones and pray for the lonely and homeless.
  • I have a cassette player and longed for Christian tapes, but they are quite expensive ranging from RM9.90 – RM19.90 each. I found a place in Glad Tidings church which sells brand new cassettes for only 50 cents each. I was so thrilled, I bought 20 tapes for only RM5.00 on various topics. Now I listen to them every night. I intend to purchase another 10 cassettes soon. God blesses us when we are faithful in our tithes.
  • I visited the dentist which is the normal procedure every 6 months. The dentist found no cavities. He just did some scaling. I was happy because I don’t like sitting in a dentist’ chair beside escaping the suffering I got to save money again.
  • Lastly I purchased my ticket back to New Zealand at a very special price. The normal fare (Malaysian Airlines) is about RM3,800 but I only paid RM2,900 for it. Praise God again! We can always trust our Heavenly Father for even the smallest things.

God knows our needs and He is more than willing to give us ALL our heart’s desires, for He truly loves us. All we need to do is to seek the Kingdom of God FIRST and all these things will be ours. God has wonderful plans for His children and loves blessing us. He wants the world to envy His beloved children. All he asks of us is to trust and obey. My favourite verse is found in Luke 6:38 – “Give and it will be given to you, in a measure pressed down, shaken over, running over your lap. For the measure you give will be given unto you.” THANK YOU LORD!!

Count your blessings
Name them one by one
Count your blessings
See what God hath done
Count your blessings
Name them one by one
And it will surprise you
What the Lord hath done

God, Thank You for Your Amazing Miracle! - July 2009 by Pansy Lim

I thank God and praise Him for this wonderful miracle that happened right before my eyes.
Two months ago, my shop accepted a soft furnishing (Interior Design) project which amounted to about RM80,000.00.  After the project was completed, my client asked whether it’s possible for my worker to sew a cover for her piano.  Though we do not normally sew such items, we nevertheless obliged her request in view of the Interior Design project given to us.   The material she chose for the piano cover was very expensive and is made of delicate fibers.
My ‘sewer’ looked at the material and commented to me that it is going to be quite a difficult job.  I encouraged her to try her best to fulfill the order.
After the piano cover was sewn, I noticed several tiny holes in the material which were caused by the pins used for tacking during the sewing process.   When I delivered the goods to my client, she was extremely upset at what happened but since payment has already been made she just accepted it.  However, two weeks later her husband appeared at my shop with the cover and demanded for a full refund.   I then asked him to allow me time for some rectification to be done instead of making a refund and he willingly agreed.  For this, I truly want to thank God for His grace upon me.
Faced with the predicament of either replacing the cover (which is quite costly) or coming up with a solution to rectify the problem of the holes, I turned to the Lord in prayer and asked him for a miracle.
God is good, He is faithful and He is a God who answers prayer.  The next morning as I entered my office, I suddenly felt a strong prompting by the Holy Spirit to use water on the material.  In obedience, I applied a small drop of water to one of the holes and lightly rubbed it with my finger.  To my utter amazement, the hole just disappeared right in front of our eyes (my staff witnessed the miracle as well).   I continued doing the same to the rest of the holes and …one by one …they disappeared.  Wow! This is really amazing and I give God all the glory for saving the situation.

God's Hand at Work - By Steven Chong

On 28 November 2008, while having dinner at a restaurant with my wife, I was rushed to the emergency ward because of a seizure attack.  I was out for about 20 minutes before I came around.  The doctor in charge was very professional and sympathetic.  When she saw the concern on my wife’s face, she told my wife that she will do everything to find out the cause of the seizure.
After a few check-ups, she asked us if it is possible to have a CT Scan on my brain in a private hospital because it may take a while before I can have an appointment in the government hospital.  We went to Sentosa Medical Centre in KL on 2 December 2008 and came out with a bad report – I had a tumour on my brain!  To make it worse, the neurologist was on leave.  So we did not know how bad it was.  We decided to return to Bentong (our hometown ) to seek the advice of a doctor friend.

It was the worst heart-wrenching one and a half hour ride back home.  Many thoughts went through my mind.  Is this finally the end for me as a way-faring stranger on this land?  What about my wife, my two children who are still in college? Yes, I know I will be with the Lord Jesus.  All those promises of God for the future written in His Word I have no problem in my conviction.  My wife and my children are not just church-goers but born-again Christians.   So I know they will be with me one day.  All those thoughts gave me a solid and comforting assurance. Yet.... the thought of missing them.......
At the clinic there were quite a number of patients and so we had to wait a while before the doctor friend could see us.  Finally, we were ushered in to see him.  He took the CT Scan and had a good look at it.  Casually he said that it was quite a big tumour, as big as a ping pong ball!  “But it is okay, it is a meningioma”  “What do you mean?” we asked.  “It is benign ..... meaning not cancerous!”  After some assurance from him, he told us to have the tumour removed as quickly as possible.  He asked us whether we have the medical insurance to have it done in the private hospital.  We replied in the negative.  He told us not to go private because it will wipe us out financially.  But on the other hand we would have to wait a long while before we can get an appointment in the goverment hospital.  With such uncertainty in our hearts, my wife and I brought this matter before the Lord.

The next day, i.e. 3 December 2008, we went to see Dr. Ponmani in the hospital  for her advice.  She was very understanding concerning the financial difficulty we would face in having the surgery in private.  She asked us jokingly if we have any large “cable” to pull so that I can have a fast surgery in the general hospital.  The Health Minister is the Member of Parliament of Bentong.  He is the big “cable” if we know him personally.  We told her we know him but he doesn’t know us.  We told her we don’t know any big “cable”.  My wife told her the only “cable” we have is our GOD. Anyway, she said that she will try everything to help me.  She spent about half an hour trying to get through to Hospital UKM.   She doesn’t know anyone from the hospital as  she is a contract doctor from India.

Finally she got through to a doctor in the Neuro-Surgery Department.  The doctor on the other side said that he will call back later because he was in the midst of a seminar. Dr Ponmani told us to go home and wait for her call.  We had our doubt whether the doctor in HUKM will call back.  Meanwhile a good friend of ours wanted to give us the personal phone number of the Health Minister and asked us to call him to help me. My wife asked the Lord but the conviction was to trust Him.  So she didn’t take  the number.

At around 1:00 pm the phone rang and Dr. Ponmani told my wife. “Carol, listen very carefully. Steven will be admitted on 8 December 2008.”   Dr. Ponmani reminded the doctor that 8 December was Hari Raya Haji.  “Never mind, he is a special case”, he said.  Can you imagine that! Hallelujah!!  I felt so good knowing that I am indeed special in His eyes!!  I just sat there and cried.
The reference letter was addressed to one Dr. Roslan but there was no such doctor when we checked online.  We were quite concerned about it.  Since we have come so far in trusting the Lord, we will just have to trust Him again.

True enough when I checked in to the neuro-surgery ward, the nurse  said there was no such doctor.  Anyway, I got admitted after the nurse phoned up to the Head of the Neuro Department.
I was admitted on Monday.  The surgeon and his team came to see me on Tuesday.  I had a MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) done on Wednesday.  The patient opposite my bed was very surprised because he was in hospital for a few days already and he had to go to a private hospital to have his MRI done.  If not he will be on the waiting list.  Was I special? I believe so! Child of God.  I was to have the surgery on Friday (12 December) but it was postponed to 26 December 2008.

I was admitted again on Christmas Day and had my surgery on Boxing Day.  On 29 December I was discharged and then on 5 January 2009 I had the  29 staples removed from the wound on my head.  I have fully recovered.  The surgeon told me I should be 100% okay again.  Praise the Lord!

Footnote: Recently, we went back to the hospital to thank my doctor.  We told her there is no  “Dr. Roslan” who told her to admit me to HUKM.  She was very surprised about it.  She mentioned that the doctor spelled out his name to her!  We told her that the nurse said there is no such doctor.  My doctor said, “Please, I am having goose-bumps all over - don’t frighten me.” Was that my guardian angel?  After all those fantastic events, dare I say no?  God is so good to me!

Ladies Fellowship (LAMP)

When the offering bag was passed around, sis. Susan Kee discovered she only had RM7.00 in her purse. Then the Holy Spirit reminded her of a blank cheque in her bag. She took out the cheque and obediently wrote the amount that God has impressed upon her heart.
A few days later, she attended a dinner with her husband at which she won the first prize in a draw. It was a cash prize and the amount is 100 times the offering she had given. Truly, we cannot out-give God!

God Provides for His Work by a Vietnamese Pastor- by Pastor Mai (Dec 2007)

A Vietnamese friend of mine from America came to see the harvest of God among the Vietnamese foreign workers here in Malaysia.  She went with us to many places where we conducted ministry.

One day some of us packed into the 7-seater van and my friend remarked that there is not enough room to sit. She then asked me to consider getting a bigger van, a 15-seater van since many Vietnamese workers want to go to church.

I felt that it's a good idea and so I prayed and asked God, "God, if this is your will, please give us a bigger van."  Suddenly I heard the voice of God saying, "Daughter, you offer the money first."  I burst out laughing even while I was praying.  (I have actually planned to go to America for a Vietnamese Conference in October and have saved up US$3,000 for that trip.) I then told God that I will not attend the conference but instead offer the money to Him.

In October this year my husband and I went back to Australia for a break.

One day the pastor of a Vietnamese church invited me to preach in his church.  At the end of the service, I showed them a photo of the old 7-seater van and related to them what happened when I prayed and asked God to provide us with a bigger van. I also told them about what God had said and that I was obeying His instructions by giving the money to Him.

Then something amazing happened. After the service many people came up to me.  They took money out from their pockets and said, "This is the money for the van."  One man gave A$1,000. Some gave A$500.  Another man gave A$1,200 and a Ladies-group gave A$1,000.  The Youth Group gave A$1,000.  A small church (with very few people) gave A$945.  After that, a man came up to me and said, "Here is A$55 to add to the A$945 given by the small church so as to make up A$1,000."

I was really surprised and I asked myself, "Why, why do they bring a lot of money to church?"   Then I realized that it must be God.  I believe that it's God who had asked them to bring money.

So far we have collected A$15,000 but we are still far from the amount needed to purchase the van.   I believe more money will be coming from the US.  My friend wrote to say that she is collecting money for us to buy a bigger van and she has already collected US$1,000.  Hallelujah!  Praise the Lord!

The van will be used for the Vietnamese ministry as well as any other ministries if needed.

I believe God is faithful and He will answer our prayers when we are obedient to His word!

Let me take this opportunity to thank all of you beloved brothers and sisters in Christ praying with me, supporting and encouraging me during the time of bereavement. God bless you all.
