  Pastor's Pen - Oct 2008

Dear Church,

It is now October and churches are planning for Christmas. So are we but the next event for us is the John Tetsola Seminar. I hope you are making time to come and to invite other Christians to attend as well because we can highly recommend it from past experience. Make it your priority, especially those who say they love God and want to serve Him. You need to be trained how to meet challenges, especially handling satanic devices that unwary Christians have fallen prey. So do come for the sake of yourself, your family, your church and for our nation.

The political situation in our country is at a cross-road. We cannot sit back and pretend it does not affect us. That would be either a na?ve foolish stand or we are in a state of denial! Do we take sides? YES, but only on the side of the Lord and His righteousness! Our duty is to pray for righteousness to prevail and wickedness to be exposed and cast down. True Christians cannot compromise on right and wrong, corruption and transparency, good and bad.....but unfortunately we have by our silence.
James 4:17 ?Therefore to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin?
How many of us have sinned in this way because of fear?

I want to bring to your attention something that Loren Cunningham wrote which we should consider and ask God how we can help bring it about in any way.

Firstly, the truths of Scripture applied to a nation will transform it. That is a statement of fact that has been proven over and over again. From the beginning of time, the Garden of Eden, through history and until today there are examples of this truth. One modern day example is Korea. Look at North and South Korea. Post-war Korea was suffering the effects of war. Poverty, undeveloped towns, poor infra-structure ? but today it is a thriving country, sending out the largest number of missionaries per capita in the world. When a critical mass of people in a country turn to the Lord, the land changes as they pray and apply God?s principles to their society. Look at North Korea, a godless nation. Because of an unrighteous government, the people suffer famine, poverty, hopelessness. Today?s nations that once followed God will thrive if they uphold God?s principles of right and wrong, even when they are not Christians. However if they forsake Him and especially His principles, the nation is on a downward path. Britain is a good example.

You may think that we cannot influence Malaysia! You can! You should work towards these goals by example and by your influence in your school, your office, your community. Fear, laziness, ignorance are your enemies. Here is a list that Cunningham pointed out. We should practice them, work and speak out for them in our society and land?

1. Honoring God, respecting each person, no matter what race and to view life as God?s precious gift. Our Rukun Negara expresses many key principles that we should revive. I wonder why our Government no longer promote it?

2. Every mother would love her unborn child and not think of abortion, abandonment or abuse. Every father would provide for the family, loving his wife and children. Adultery would be totally unthinkable in the united family.

3. Racism would be rare and unity always promoted in schools and society. Reconciliation and forgiveness would bring all ethnic groups together.

4. We can live in safety without fear of crimes of violence.

5. Gangs will disappear for lack of members and all young people will find true community and purpose in the Body of Christ.

6. People will respect and love their city, keeping the streets clean and no graffiti will mar the beauty of the city.

7. The people would protect the envioronment, being god stewards of the Lord?s creation.

8. Child and spousal abuse would be unheard of.

9. Divorce would be extremely rare.

10. Broken relationships restored because people repented and forgave one another.

11. There will be no corporate scandals because of honest businessmen

12. They will have healthy competition and not undermine one another.

13. Politicians, judges, officials would be true public servants

14. Billions of dollars will be freed to benefit the country because there would be so little corruption

15. Worker productivity would soar as addictions to drugs, gambling, alcohol, pornography diminishes and people work with skills, purpose and vision.

16. Prisons would be empty and used for other purposes

17. We would be able to help other nations to hear the gospel, to provide for their physical needs.

18. People would speak the truth in love and there will be no profanity and slander.

19. There would be no road rage and politeness is the norm not the exception.

What a wonderful country that would be! And the important thing to remember is that there has been such societies in past history as well as in present day examples.

Who will build such a society, seeing how far they have fallen, including former Christian nations? YOU can do it! Families become clans and clans become tribes and tribes become Nations! Many do not even start because they say it cannot be done. They fail themselves and others without even starting. Do not under estimate the power of ONE! And ONE with GOD is the majority!

There are seven places to start. See where you are and have the vision to change these places where you are at.
? Family
? Church and Mission
? Education
? Arts, entertainment, sports
? Media, mass communication
? Business, science and technology
? Government.

Begin where you are! Do not despise the day of small beginnings, the Lord says! It begins with YOU.

Changing the world together!

Ps Khim
