Signs & Wonders
Testimony by Laila (Orang Asli Domestic helper to Ps Khim)
This is a testimony of my younger brother’s encounter with wicked men and how God miraculously saved him and his friends. God also revealed this to me in a dream so that I could intercede and pray for God’s protection upon his life. My brother Bakri (in his early twenties) was working in a durian plantation in Pahang together with two other younger orang asli teenage boys. It was early July and this was durian harvesting season. The boys worked to collect the durians and also to watch over the plantation. This was a short term job contract and they stayed in a simple ‘pondok’ (hut) in the plantation.
The plantation was located next to a kampung. One day some of the men from the kampong came up to Bakri and demanded that some durians be given to them for free and they could later sell them and earn a profit.
Bakri declined and said that this was a dishonest thing to do because the durians belonged to the plantation owner who was a Chinese businessman. He was employed to keep the durians safe; so as a Christian, he could not steal them. This made the men very angry and they went away.
Later in the early hours of the morning at about 1am, Bakri and the boys heard gun shots being fired in the air. They were terrified. They realized that it was the group of men from the kampong who had earlier demanded the durians. There were about five of them, armed with guns & parangs. They had come with a revengeful heart to hunt the boys down.
The boys panicked as they heard the men approaching the pondok. Bakri being the oldest of the boys cried out to God in prayer and told the 2 boys to do likewise. After all, they had done a righteous thing by rejecting the men’s dishonest scheme. “If we are killed for this righteous deed, so be it!” they said to one another. Then suddenly, there appeared a large hole in front of them inside the ‘pondok’. They were stunned! Where did this hole come from? Quickly, they jumped into the hole and discovered that it was a tunnel. They ran as fast as they could in the tunnel and then walked through some jungle area. After that they reached the main road and continued walking until they reached their home which was in Simpang Pertang in Negeri Sembilan. They had walked for roughly 4 hours. They were finally safe from the perils of the wicked men.
At about 11am in the morning, I received a phone call from my sister. I had such a shock when she related the details of Bakri’s terrifying experience. I paused and then told her my side of the story. The previous night, I had a very sad dream. This was the very same night that Bakri was hunted by the men. In my dream, my sister was carrying a dead body. I asked my sister, “Why are you carrying this dead body? Who is it that has died?” My sister replied, “It is Bakri, our younger brother who has been killed.”.
I wept when I heard this. Then suddenly I woke up from my sleep and realized that it was a bad dream. Nevertheless, I quickly got up and prayed “I cover Bakri with the blood of Jesus. In Jesus’ name, I command that the nightmare be nullified and that nothing bad will happen to Bakri. In the name of Jesus I break the powers of evil that are against him.”
God had been so gracious to reveal to me the danger that my brother was in. It was a good lesson for me to learn that through my prayers, I can help others by calling upon the name of Jesus for His protection over those who are in trouble. God is our refuge and fortress!
“He shall call upon Me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” Ps 91:15
