River of Life Sanctuary was founded in 1999, birthed ouf of a season of prayer and journey of obedience to the voice of God. The main founders of the church are Pastor Khim, Pastor Ang and Pastor Sharon Manjit. Pastor Khim and Pastor Ang are a God fearing husband and wife team who have been faithfully serving the Lord for well over 25 years. The church began with about 22 people in the congregation in a 2 storey shop lot in Desa Sri Hartamas. Over these 8 years, God has extended the body of Christ in RLS and as a result, the church has relocated to Segambut temporarily whilst waiting for permanent residence in Desa Sri Hartamas.

We now have branch churches at RLS Semua House and Bentong. River of Life Sanctuary Bandar Puteri is now an affiliated church. Other affiliated churches are Gereja River of Life Permatang Siantar (Indonesia) and Mission churches in Grik and India.

Our ministry includes services in Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia, Nepalese, Vietnamese, Myanmar.

How River of Life Sanctuary Started 

It was in 1997 when both Ps. Khim and Ps. Ang first received prophecies that they are to plant a new church. They had attended a Prophetic Conference in Perth and a prophet came up to Ps. Khim and prophesied to her that she must plant a church. The very next day, another person gave Ps. Ang a similar prophecy. These prophecies were unexpected and they were both very puzzled about the whole matter. After returning to Malaysia, over the next 2 years, many other pastors and speakers from different parts of the world kept on saying the same thing to them.   

They approached the Missions Dept of their former church and requested that their former church send them out since there was a program to plant satellite churches. After waiting 2 years, they were told that they did not suit the church?s requirement to do church planting. Thinking that this was the end of the matter, they set it aside but 3 months later, they received a strong rebuke from the Lord. 

One day, they attended a concert in MCA Hall and were unexpectedly invited to sit at the front seats. At the end of the concert, a pastor came over to them and said, "God has called you both to plant a church. I keep hearing that throughout the concert. Why have you not obeyed? It is already a year late!" He also added strongly that when God calls, they have to obey and do it in faith. During that same period, some other intercessors also independently confirmed this message.  

This made the pastors realize that they although they had no support from their former church, they just had to launch out in faith and start the church that God wanted. So like Abraham, they launched off on their own not knowing what was ahead of them. Twenty people joined them in faith as pioneers of a new church. Even as a young church, RLS also took up the challenge to support 4 churches in India. Then about 3 years later Dr. Paul Chen was sent to plant a branch church in Puchong called River of Life Sanctuary Bandar Puteri. RLSBP is now autonomous and is one of our affiliate churches. 

When RLS started, Ps. Manjit and Sharon were called to start River of Life Sanctuary, Hang Lekiu serving the Punjabis. They started with a group of only 5 members. Now, after 8 years, God has blessed their hard work and they have about 120 members worshipping God and have since moved to larger premises in Semua House. They are now a full-fledge church to all people groups.

Another area of ministry that God led RLS into was to reach out to a tribal group. The calling begin as early as two years before RLS started. God told them to start reaching out to a certain tribal group who was dark skinned with curly hair and blowpipes. Through prayer and godly wisdom, the location and the name of this group were identified and God begin to use His people from RLS to minister to them. Today this ministry has flourished tremendously through the efforts of Ps. Dr. Paul Chen, Ps Siew Tin and their team from RLS Bandar Puteri.
